It is so because the forest ecosystem is a natural one and all the elements are balanced from its beginning it is also very large in size that means a single part if unbalanced will be balanced by other parts while the crop land ecosystem is an artificial one and the balance is not stable that means it could be the ...

Why are natural ecosystems more stable than cropland ecosystems?

There is no need to interfere with the components of ecosystem. If they are not interrupted by human activities, their equilibrium and thus stability, is maintained naturally.

Why is a forest more stable than a cornfield?

— A forest ecosystem has greater biodiversity. This leads to a more stable ecosystem since more interrelationships and interdependencies among the organisms exist in a forest than in a cornfield. — A forest has much greater plant biodiversity than a cornfield that is dominated by a single plant species.

What is a cropland ecosystem?

A crop land ecosystem will have a major crop cultivated in a given area. It shows that the diversity in that particular area will be least. Whereas it is the opposite when forest ecosystem is considered. The cropland Ecosystem: This is manmade ecosystem.

Is cropland is a natural ecosystem?

Complete answer: The Cropland ecosystem is an artificial ecosystem. An ecosystem forms the basic building block of an environment which consists of both biotic and abiotic components and their continuous interactions with each other.

Deforestation: What’s wrong with planting new forests? - BBC News

Is forest ecosystem and grassland ecosystem same?

One of the main differences between these two biomes is that trees and large shrubs are rarely found in grassland areas. Furthermore, unlike the temperate forest, grassland animals lack shelter in the open prairies. Finally, there is much more animal diversity in temperate forests than there is in grasslands.

What is the difference between grassland and a forest?

As nouns the difference between forest and grassland

is that forest is a dense collection of trees covering a relatively large area larger than woods while grassland is an area dominated by grass or grasslike vegetation.

What are the characteristics of cropland ecosystem?

A signature feature of the cropland ecosystem is the reduced genetic variation.
...
Cropland ecosystem has following components:

• Producers: The producers of a cropland ecosystem are a crop along with the weeds which grow in the field. ...
• Consumers: The primary consumers of the cropland ecosystem are herbivores.

What are the three characteristics of cropland ecosystem?

Least genetic diversity. The absence of weeds. Ecological succession. The absence of soil orgnaisms.

How is a forest ecosystem different than a desert ecosystem?

The forest ecosystem is characterized by a large amount of trees, animals, and water, while the desert has a limited amount of species.

Which is more stable ecosystem a cornfield or a rainforest?

concentrated in the decomposers. the number of primary consumers in the cornfield exceeds those in the rain forest. the rain forest's net primary productivity is much lower in relation to its biomass. the cornfield is a more stable ecosystem.

Which ecosystem is more stable Why?

The ocean is the most stable ecosystem. It is stable due to its natural liquid nature (saline), dissolved oxygen, light and temperature. Note: An environment is considered to be stable when its structure and function remain unchanged for a long period of time.

Which is more stable than ecological point of view?

Oceans is stable ecosystems since it stays unchanged over the long term. Various natural geological and anthropogenic forces build and damage mountains, deserts and forests but oceans have remained stable over the long history of the Earth.

What is meant by components of ecosystem?

An ecosystem can be categorized into its abiotic constituents, including minerals, climate, soil, water, sunlight, and all other nonliving elements, and its biotic constituents, consisting of all its living members.

How can the food chain of this cropland ecosystem be represented?

The cropland Ecosystem: ... Consumers: Herbivores are the primary consumers of the cropland ecosystem. These include rats, rabbits, birds, man and insects. The second order and the third order consumers are represented by frogs, snakes, birds such as hawk etc.

Who coined term ecosystem?

Sir Arthur G. Tansley coined the term ecosystem in 1935.

Which ecosystem has maximum biomass?

Answer: Forest ecosystem have the maximum biomass, because it includes organisms of all tropic levels as compared to pond, lake or grassland ecosystem.

Which of the following is the most effective means of conserving biodiversity?

Biospher reserve is an in situ conservation method. hence, it is the most effective way among the four above for preserving genetic diversity by protecting wild popultion, traditional life style and domesticated plant genetic resource.

What are the characteristic features of an ecosystem?

Most ecosystems characteristically possess a well-defined soil, climate, flora and fauna (or communities) and have their own potential for adaptation, change and tolerance. The functioning of any ecosystem involves a series of cycles, e.g., the water cycle and the cycles of various nutrients.

What is the meaning of croplands?

Cropland includes areas used for the production of adapted crops for harvest. ... Cultivated cropland comprises land in row crops or close-grown crops and also other cultivated cropland, for example, hay land or pastureland that is in a rotation with row or close-grown crops.

Which ecosystem is intermediate between forest and grassland?

Beyond the Forest-Grassland Dichotomy: The Gradient-Like Organization of Habitats in Forest-Steppes. Featuring a transitional zone between closed forests and treeless steppes, forest-steppes cover vast areas, and have outstanding conservation importance.

What is forest ecosystem and grassland ecosystem?

Grassland Ecosystem is an area where the vegetation is dominated by grasses and other herbaceous (non-woody) plants. It is also called transitional landscape because grassland ecosystems are dominated by the grass with few or no trees in the area where there is not enough for a forest and too much of a forest.

What is forest and grassland ecosystem?

Grasslands (also called Greenswards) are areas where the vegetation is dominated by grasses and other herbaceous (non-woody) plants. • Grasslands occupy about 24% of the earth's surface. • Grasslands occur in regions too dry for forests and too. moist for deserts.

Why is a forest an ecosystem?

Forests consist not only of living (biotic) components like trees, animals, plants, and other living things but also of nonliving (abiotic) components such as soil, water, air, and landforms. All of these components together make up a forest ecosystem.

What makes a forest an ecosystem?

A forest ecosystem describes the community of plants, animals, microbes and all other organisms in interaction with the chemical and physical features of their environment: Specifically, a terrestrial environment dominated by trees growing in a closed canopy — a forest, in other words.
