Saga works like a separate thread or a background process that is solely responsible for making your side effects or API calls unlike redux-thunk, which uses callbacks which may lead to situations like 'callback hell' in some cases. However, with the async/await system, this problem can be minimized in redux-thunk.

What is the advantage of Redux saga?

Redux-saga is a middleware to act on an action before it reaches the reducer. Basically, all side effects will be handled in the middleware and gives you more control over the effects. This way, it has clear separation of concerns that the middleware is going to handle the side effects and not the component.

Is Redux saga overkill?

Once you start using one of these libraries, you will find that on the vast majority of projects, Redux is overkill. When the data fetching/caching part of your app is taken care of, there is very little global state for you to handle on the frontend.

Do people still use Redux saga?

Redux proved to be battle-tested in big React apps. Those apps will be around for a long time and continue to use it. Almost half of React apps use Redux (according to polls and dev surveys) - so you can probably figure out why it's so popular & unpopular at the same time.

Should I use saga or thunk?

Saga works like a separate thread or a background process that is solely responsible for making your side effects or API calls unlike redux-thunk, which uses callbacks which may lead to situations like 'callback hell' in some cases. However, with the async/await system, this problem can be minimized in redux-thunk.

Redux Saga vs Thunk: What should you choose?

Why Redux is bad?

What I Hate About Redux. If you use redux to develop your application, even small changes in functionality require you to write excessive amounts of code. This goes against the direct-mapping principle, which states that small functional changes should result in small code changes.

Is MobX better than Redux?

Based on the developer community, popularity, and scalability, Redux performs better than MobX. But if you're looking to get up to speed quickly and build simple apps with less boilerplate code, MobX might be your best bet.

Why is thunk used?

Redux Thunk is middleware that allows you to return functions, rather than just actions, within Redux. This allows for delayed actions, including working with promises. One of the main use cases for this middleware is for handling actions that might not be synchronous, for example, using axios to send a GET request.

Can I use react query instead of Redux?

Redux and react-query are 2 very different things: react-query is used for data synchronization, Redux is a global state manager. react-query is used to keep synch all your apps to the same db, Redux is used to share a part of the app state to all the components that need to read that state.

What is the difference between thunk and Saga?

In very simple terms, applied to the most common scenario (async functions, specifically AJAX calls) Thunk allows Promises" to deal with them, Saga uses Generators. Thunk is simple to use and Promises are familiar to many developers, Saga/Generators are more powerful but you will need to learn them.

Do we need Redux thunk?

Redux Thunk looks for these special functions and handles the dispatching for you. This pattern allows you to centralize and re-use these services in different components. This especially comes handy when you are making asynchronous API requests and you need to dispatch on promise success and error.

How does thunk middleware work?

Redux thunk gives you the ability to work with async actions (to dispatch multiple actions from a single action creator, for async actions that is usually the REQUEST/RESPONSE/ERROR action). Middleware is something that stands between you dispatching the action and reducer updating the store.

Should I store everything in Redux?

Some users prefer to keep every single piece of data in Redux, to maintain a fully serializable and controlled version of their application at all times. Others prefer to keep non-critical or UI state, such as “is this dropdown currently open”, inside a component's internal state. Using local component state is fine.

Is recoil faster than Redux?

Redux vs Recoil: Performance

McCabe mentioned in a comment on HackerNews: "Well, I know that on one tool we saw a 20x or so speedup compared to using Redux. ... Recoil is O(1) because when you edit the data in an atom, only components subscribed to that atom will re-render.

Do we really need Redux in React?

I would like to amend this: don't use Redux until you have problems with vanilla React. Redux is most useful when in cases when: You have large amounts of application state that are needed in many places in the app. The app state is updated frequently.

Is Redux thunk async?

As it turns out, Redux already has an official version of that "async function middleware", called the Redux "Thunk" middleware. The thunk middleware allows us to write functions that get dispatch and getState as arguments.

Who wouldve thunk?

informal humorous (also who would've thunk that... ?, who woulda thunk it?, who'd a thunk it?) used for expressing surprise, or sometimes in a humorous way when something is not at all surprising: The songwriter, singer and entertainer became a U.S. congressman. Who would've thunk it?

What is thunk function?

In computer programming, a thunk is a subroutine used to inject a calculation into another subroutine. Thunks are primarily used to delay a calculation until its result is needed, or to insert operations at the beginning or end of the other subroutine.

Does Facebook use flux or Redux?

Dan on Twitter: "Actually Facebook doesn't use Redux “at scale”, it uses Flux :-)… "

Do hooks replace Redux?

React Hooks are great but they do not replace Redux and they never will.

Does context replace Redux?

Context API prompts a re-render on each update of the state and re-renders all components regardless. Redux however, only re-renders the updated components.

What are ducks Redux?

Ducks is a useful way to grow a React/Redux app with a file system that grows along with your app. It eliminates the margin for error when importing actions across multiple components and allows for more modularity. Please let us know if you have any thoughts about how to better the Ducks-ing way!

What is slice in Redux?

A Redux Slice is a collection of reducer logic and actions for a single feature of our app. The name “slice” comes from the idea that we're splitting up the root Redux state object into multiple “slices” of slate.

What is duck pattern?

Ducks is a modular pattern that collocates actions, action types and reducers.

Does redux maintain state on refresh?

3 Answers. If you would like to persist your redux state across a browser refresh, it's best to do this using redux middleware. Check out the redux-persist and redux-storage middleware. They both try to accomplish the same task of storing your redux state so that it may be saved and loaded at will.
