As a parallel resonance circuit only functions on resonant frequency, this type of circuit is also known as an Rejecter Circuit because at resonance, the impedance of the circuit is at its maximum thereby suppressing or rejecting the current whose frequency is equal to its resonant frequency.

What is meant by Rejector circuit?

A circuit comprising a capacitor and an inductor connected in parallel, having values chosen such that the combination offers a very high impedance to signals of a particular frequency.

What is mean by acceptor circuit?

Acceptor circuit provides the maximum response to currents at its resonant frequency. Series resonance circuit is known as acceptor circuit because the impedance at the resonance is at its minimum so as to accept the current easily such that the frequency of the accepted current is equal to the resonant frequency.

Which circuit is called as Rejector circuit?

Parallel resonant circuit is used as filter circuit because such circuit rejects the currents corresponding to the parallel resonant frequencies and allow other frequencies to pass, hence called as filter circuit or rejector circuit.

What does acceptor and Rejector circuit mean?

- Series resonance circuit is aka acceptor circuit as it accepts current at resonant frequency. - Impedance is minimum here. - Voltage is magnified in acceptor circuit. ● Acceptor circuit - - Parallel resonance circuit is aka rejector circuit as its current is minimum at resonant frequency.

Why are parallel resonance circuits called rejector circuit/filter circuits/antiresonance circuits ?

What is Rejector?

1. to refuse to accept, acknowledge, use, believe, etc. 2. to throw out as useless or worthless; discard. 3.

What is RLC Rejector circuit?

At frequencies other than resonance, the impedance is much less. So, the parallel tuned circuit rejects signals at or near its resonant frequency and allows signals of frequencies other than resonance to pass. This is why the parallel tuned circuit is called a rejector circuit.

Why the series resonance circuit is called an acceptor circuit and the parallel resonance circuit is called Rejector circuit?

Himanshu answered this. The series resonant circuit is called an acceptor circuit because if the applied voltage consists of a large number of frequencies, the circuit shall accept maximum current only for the resonant frequency and shall reject all the other frequencies.

Why parallel resonance is called current resonance?

At resonance there will be a large circulating current between the inductor and the capacitor due to the energy of the oscillations, then parallel circuits produce current resonance. A parallel resonant circuit stores the circuit energy in the magnetic field of the inductor and the electric field of the capacitor.

What are the applications of acceptor circuit?

• LCR series circuit is also known as tuned or acceptor circuit. ...
• Series LCR circuit has applications in radio and communication engineering.
• They can be used to select a certain narrow range of frequencies from the total spectrum of ambient radiowaves.

What is series resonant circuit?

Series resonance is a resonance condition that usually occurs in series circuits, where the current becomes a maximum for a particular voltage. In series resonance, the current is maximum at resonant frequency. The series resonance current curve increases to a maximum at resonance then decreases as resonance is passed.

What is quality factor in LCR circuit?

The quality factor is the ratio of maximum energy stored in a capacitor or inductor to the energy dissipated by a resistor or we can say energy dissipated during one cycle of oscillation. We can mathematically express it as: Q=VLVR=I×XLI×R=ω×LR.

What is meant by frequency response curve of an acceptor circuit?

The frequency response curve of a series resonance circuit shows that the magnitude of the current is a function of frequency and plotting this onto a graph shows us that the response starts at near to zero, reaches maximum value at the resonance frequency when I_MAX = I_R and then drops again to nearly zero as ƒ becomes ...

What is capacitive reactance?

The opposition to the flow of alternating current due to capacitance is called "capacitive reactance." It is measured in ohms just like resistance and inductive reactance. ... In capacitors, the current leads voltage by 90 degrees.

What is anti resonance frequency?

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia. In the physics of coupled oscillators, antiresonance, by analogy with resonance, is a pronounced minimum in the amplitude of an oscillator at a particular frequency, accompanied by a large, abrupt shift in its oscillation phase.

What is parallel circuit known as?

So, series circuits are also called Voltage dividers. For parallel circuits, it's the opposite, as voltage will flow the same in each path, the current get's dropped/separated for each path. For that very behaviour, these circuits are also called as Current dividers.

What is parallel resonance circuit?

A parallel circuit consisting of inductor and capacitor in which the inductive reactance and the capacitive reactance are equal and obtain maximum impedance at the frequency at which the circuit is resonant.

What is parallel RLC circuit?

In series RLC circuit, the current flowing through all the three components i.e the resistor, inductor and capacitor remains the same, but in parallel circuit, the voltage across each element remains the same and the current gets divided in each component depending upon the impedance of each component.

What is series resonance and parallel resonance?

Series resonance refers to the resonance that occurs in circuits where capacitors and inductors are connected in series, whereas parallel resonance refers to the resonance that occurs in circuits where the capacitors and inductors are connected in parallel.

What is series resonance in RLC circuit?

Series Resonance

The resonance of a series RLC circuit occurs when the inductive and capacitive reactances are equal in magnitude but cancel each other because they are 180 degrees apart in phase. The sharp minimum in impedance which occurs is useful in tuning applications.

What is wave shaping circuit?

Electronic circuits used to create or modify specified time-varying electrical voltage or current waveforms using combinations of active electronic devices, such as transistors or analog or digital integrated circuits, and resistors, capacitors, and inductors.

What is resonance circuit?

[ rĕz′ə-nənt ] An electric circuit which has very low impedance at a certain frequency. Resonant circuits are often built using an inductor, such as a coil, connected in parallel to a capacitor.

What is bandwidth formula?

Bandwidth is measured between the 0.707 current amplitude points. The 0.707 current points correspond to the half power points since P = I²R, (0.707)² = (0.5). Bandwidth, Δf is measured between the 70.7% amplitude points of series resonant circuit.

Is Rejecter a word?

noun. A person who rejects someone or something.

What is a synonym for rejected?

Some common synonyms of reject are decline, refuse, repudiate, and spurn. While all these words mean "to turn away by not accepting, receiving, or considering," reject implies a peremptory refusal by sending away or discarding.
