Which tissue found in iris?
Andrew Mitchell In humans, the iris of the eye consists of smooth fibrous tissue along with blood vessels. These smooth tissues are also known as Ciliary muscle - Wikipedia
Which muscle tissue is present in iris of eye?
The muscle cells of the iris are smooth muscle in mammals. They occur as a bundle or sheets of spindle shaped cells.
What is the eye iris made of?
Iris and uvea definition
Iris: The iris of the eye is the thin, circular structure made of connective tissue and muscle that surrounds the pupil. The color of our eyes is determined by the amount of pigment in the iris.
What part is the iris?
Iris: The iris is the colored part of the eye that surrounds the pupil. It regulates the amount of light that enters the eye. Lens: The lens is a clear part of the eye behind the iris that helps to focus light and images on the retina.
What is iris and pupil?
The iris is the ring-shaped membrane inside the eye. The pupil is the black hole or opening present in the center of the iris. ... It is the opening through which the light enters our eye. It contains the muscles that contract when the light is bright and relaxes when the light is low.

What is ciliary epithelium?
The ciliary epithelium of the ciliary processes produces aqueous humor, which is responsible for providing oxygen, nutrients, and metabolic waste removal to the lens and the cornea, which do not have their own blood supply.
What is ora serrata in human eye?
Peripheral Retina
The ora serrata is the peripheral termination of the retina and lies approximately 5 mm anterior to the equator of the eye. ... The ora serrata is approximately 2 mm wide and is the site of transition from the complex, multilayered neural retina to the single, nonpigmented layer of ciliary epithelium.
What are Zonules in the eye?
Ciliary zonules are a ring of fibrous structures anchoring the ciliary body with the lens of the eye. These are the structures that help to maintain the position of the lens in the optical path, and anchor muscles that change the shape of the lens to alter focus.
Where is vitreous humor produced?
The vitreous humor is a clear body fluid found within the eyeball. It is the major body fluid in the eyeball (another body fluid is the aqueous humor). It is produced by the non-pigmented cells in the ciliary body.
What is the pupil of the eye?
The pupil of the eye is the black circle in the center of the iris. The iris is the colored portion of the eye with a structure and color unique to each person. The pupil of the eye is a portal which admits and regulates the flow of light to the retina. This is part of the process which allows us to perceive images.
What is the hole in the iris called?
The front of the choroid is the coloured part of the eye called the iris. In the centre of the iris is a circular hole or opening called the pupil.
What is found in the iris of eye and bronchi of lungs?
Explanation: Smooth muscles or involuntary muscles control such movements. They are also found in the iris of the eye, in ureters and in the bronchi of the lungs.
Which tissue connects two bones?
A ligament is a fibrous connective tissue that attaches bone to bone, and usually serves to hold structures together and keep them stable.
Is pupil a hole?
The pupil is the hole located in the center of the iris. It allows light to enter the eye. The pupil appears black because light rays entering the pupil are absorbed by the tissues inside the eye. ... The cornea is the transparent front part of the eye that covers the iris, pupil, and anterior chamber.
What is vitrectomy done for?
A vitrectomy is a type of eye surgery to treat various problems with the retina and vitreous. During the surgery, your surgeon removes the vitreous and replaces it with another solution. The vitreous is a gel-like substance that fills the middle portion of your eye.

Why is pupil black?
Typically, the pupils appear perfectly round, equal in size and black in color. The black color is because light that passes through the pupil is absorbed by the retina and is not reflected back (in normal lighting).
What are retinas?
The retina is a layer of tissue in the back of your eye that senses light and sends images to your brain. In the center of this nerve tissue is the macula. It provides the sharp, central vision needed for reading, driving and seeing fine detail. Retinal disorders affect this vital tissue.
What holds retina in place?
The main purpose of the vitreous is to help hold the retina in place and acts as a shock absorber. As people age, the vitreous naturally begins to liquefy and shrink, pulling away from the retina (called a posterior vitreous detachment).
What are rods cones?
Rods and cones are the receptors in the retina responsible for your sense of sight. They are the part of the eye responsible for converting the light that enters your eye into electrical signals that can be decoded by the vision-processing center of the brain. Cones are responsible for color vision.
Where does glaucoma come from?
Glaucoma is the result of damage to the optic nerve. As this nerve gradually deteriorates, blind spots develop in your visual field. For reasons that doctors don't fully understand, this nerve damage is usually related to increased pressure in the eye.
