Cervical Nerve – affects the muscles of the side of the neck.

What nerve affects the side of the neck?

C1, C2, and C3 (the first three cervical nerves) help control the head and neck, including movements forward, backward, and to the sides. The C2 dermatome handles sensation for the upper part of the head, and the C3 dermatome covers the side of the face and back of the head.

Which nerve extends to the muscles on the side of the neck quizlet?

7th cranial nerve. is the chief motor nerve of the face. It emerges near the lower part of the ear and extends to the muscles of the neck.

What nerve controls neck muscles?

An unusual nerve that contains both cranial and spinal roots

The accessory nerve provides motor function (movement) to two muscles essential to neck and shoulder movement, the sternocleidomastoid (SCM) and the trapezius, as well as to the larynx (voice box) and other structures in the throat.

What cervical nerve extends into the side of the neck and external ear?

Vagus nerve branches in the jugular foramen

The auricular branch supplies sensations to the posterior aspect of the external ear (pinna) and the posterior part of the external auditory canal.

What cervical nerve extends into the muscles at the back of the skull?

The spinal nerve C1 (suboccipital nerve) provides motor innervation to muscles at the base of the skull.

What nerve extends to the side of the four head temple in upper part of the cheek?

In sum, the maxillary nerve innervates the skin of the lower eyelid, the prominence of the cheek, the alar part of the nose, part of the temple, and the upper lip (Figures 2.2 and 2.3).

What is axillary nerve?

The axillary nerve or the circumflex nerve is a nerve of the human body, that originates from the brachial plexus (upper trunk, posterior division, posterior cord) at the level of the axilla (armpit) and carries nerve fibers from C5 and C6.

Is the Suprascapular nerve a peripheral nerve?

The suprascapular nerve is a peripheral nerve of the shoulder and arm. It arises from the upper portion of the brachial plexus, which is a network of nerves that stretches across your check from your neck down to your armpit.

What does T1 nerve control?

T1-T8 Differences Defined

However, the nerves of each thoracic vertebra level communicate with different sections of the body. The T1-T4 thoracic sections control primarily chest muscles and organs, such as the heart and lungs. The T5 - T8 vertebrae affect the abdominal muscles, as well as some of the chest.

What branch of facial nerve extends to the muscles of the temple the side of the forehead eyebrow eyelid and upper cheek?

The temporal branch – innervating the frontalis and orbicularis oculi muscles and the muscles in the upper part of the face.

What is the nerve branch extending to the muscles behind and below the ear?

The great auricular nerve is a sensory branch from the cervical plexus that crosses the anterior border of the sternocleidomastoid muscle to supply sensation to the skin inferior to the external auditory meatus.

Which nerve extends down the little finger side of the arm?

Ulnar nerve.

The ulnar nerve supplies muscles that help bend the wrist and fingers, and that help move the fingers from side to side. It also gives feeling to the skin of the outer part of the hand, including the little finger and the outer half of the back of the hand, palm, and ring finger.

What nerve affects the side of the neck and Platysma muscle?

The great auricular nerve relative to the platysma muscle:

The great auricular nerve runs immediately deep to the platysma and courses over the mid-body of the sternocleidomastoid muscle and divides into anterior and posterior branches.

What nerve is between C4 and C5?

The C4 and C5 roots give rise to the dorsal scapular nerve that supplies the rhomboids and levator scapulae. C5, as mentioned earlier, along with C3 and C4, contributes to the phrenic nerve that innervates the diaphragm.

What is the buccal nerve?

The buccal nerve is the only sensory branch of the anterior mandibular division of the trigeminal nerve. It innervates the major part of the buccal mucosa, the inferior buccal gingiva in the molar area, and the skin above the anterior part of the buccinator muscle.

What is supraclavicular nerve?

The supraclavicular nerve is a superficial sensory nerve originating from the C3 and C4 nerve roots of the superficial cervical plexus. This nerve arborizes proximal to the clavicle and provides sensation over the clavicle, anteromedial shoulder, and proximal chest [5, 8].

Which muscles does the suprascapular nerve innervate?

The suprascapular nerve branches provide efferent innervation to the supraspinatus and infraspinatus muscles as well as sensory innervation to the shoulder joint.

What muscles does the suprascapular nerve?

The suprascapular nerve has a motor and sensory innervation. Its motor innervation is to the supraspinatus and infraspinatus muscles. The supraspinatus and infraspinatus muscles are two of the four muscles that make up the glenohumeral (shoulder) joint.

What muscles does the axillary nerve innervate?

Usually, the axillary nerve contains fibers from the C5 and C6 ventral rami. This nerve innervates the teres minor and deltoid muscles, the skin over the shoulder (upper lateral brachial nerve), and the glenohumeral joint.

Which muscle is supplied by axillary nerve?

Axillary nerve (ventral rami of C5 & C6) arises from the posterior cord of brachial plexus giving muscular branches to teres minor & deltoid. It also supplies the shoulder joint and the skin over it [1].

Is the axillary nerve a peripheral nerve?

The Anatomy of the Axillary Nerve

It's a major peripheral nerve of the arm, carrying fibers from the fifth and sixth cervical vertebrae (C5 and C6), which are in near the base of the neck.

What branch of the facial nerve extends to the muscles of the temple?

Zygomatic Nerve – affects the muscle of the upper part of the cheek. and extends to the muscles of the neck. 2. Temporal Nerve – affects the muscles of the temple, side of the forehead, eyebrow, eyelid, and upper cheek.

What does abducens nerve do?

The abducens nerve functions to innervate the ipsilateral lateral rectus muscle and partially innervate the contralateral medial rectus muscle (at the level of the nucleus - via the medial longitudinal fasciculus).

Where is 7th cranial nerve?

Where is the 7th Cranial Nerve located? The two 7th Cranial Nerves (CN VII) are located on either side of the brainstem, at the top of the medulla. They are mixed cranial nerves with BOTH sensory and motor function. CN VII controls the face and is mainly FACE MOVEMENT with some face sensation.
