What is the difference between a rubber roof and a TPO roof?

Its synthetic rubber surface will essentially bounce the hail off with little to no damage to the roof surface or system. TPO systems, on the other hand, are made of thermoplastic, and when struck by hailstones will produce concentric circles that remain in place, and may compromise the membrane of the roofing system.

What type of roof is TPO?

What is TPO Roofing? Thermoplastic Polyolefin is a single-ply roofing membrane that is one of the fastest-growing commercial roofing systems on the market. TPO roofing systems are made up of a single layer of synthetics and reinforcing scrim that can be used to cover flat roofs.

Can you coat a TPO roof?

Silicone and acrylic coating systems are both great choices for restoring and extending the life of a TPO roofing system. ... Ageing gives the membrane surface a matte finish that more readily accepts a coating, helping ensure long-lasting, weathertight performance.
