The female gametophyte is the female gamete. It is already known that gametes are haploid so the ploidy level of female gametophyte is n. Ploidy level tells about the number of chromosomes present in the cell or genome of an organism.

What is the ploidy of megaspore and female gametophyte?

A megaspore mother cell is a diploid cell in which meiosis occurs, resulting in the production of four haploid megaspores. Hence, Ploidy level of Nucellus, endosperm, polar nuclei, Megaspore mother cell, female gametophyte respectively are 2n,3n,n,2n,n. So, the correct answer is '2n,3n,n,2n,n'.

What is a female gametophyte?

The female gametophyte, also referred to as the embryo sac or megagametophyte, develops within the ovule, which, in turn, is embedded within the ovary of the carpel. Among angiosperms, the female gametophyte has a variety of forms.

What will be the ploidy of Nucellus MMC antipodal polar nucleus Synergid?

2n, n, 2n, 2n.

What is the ploidy level of megaspore?

The nucellus is the central part of the ovule containing the embryo sac and is diploid, and megaspore mother cell is the one which is going to form 4 haploid megaspores by meiosis so again being a parent cell their ploidy is 2n.

Ploidy of Nucellus, MMC, Megaspore & Female Gametophyte

What is the ploidy of the gametophyte?

The gametophyte is a haploid (n), gamete-producing plant.

What is the ploidy of the male and female gametophyte?

Nucellus , microspore mother cells (MMC), and megaspore mother cells are part of sporophyte so these are diploid cells and their ploidy is 2n while female gametophytes are part of gametophyte and ploidy is n .

What is the ploidy of Tapetum?

Tapetum is in anther which encourages for the advancement of dust. it is diploid. Sporogenous tissue is available both in anther and ovule.

What is the ploidy level of integument?

Its ploidy is 2n. Integument is the network of capabilities that forms the covering of an organism. The integument delimits the organism body, isolating it from the surroundings and protecting it from foreign matter. It has a ploidy 2n.

Is Microspore diploid or haploid?

Microspores are haploid, and are produced from diploid microsporocytes by meiosis.

Is a female gametophyte haploid or diploid?

The female angiosperm gametophyte develops in the ovule (located inside the female or hermaphrodite flower). Its precursor is a diploid megaspore that undergoes meiosis which produces four haploid daughter cells.

What is female gametophyte of angiosperm?

The female gametophyte in angiosperms plants is called Embryo Sac or Megagametophyte. In angiosperms, it is required for sexual and asexual seed development. It consists of 3 antipodal cells, one central cell, one egg cell and two synergid cells.

Is the female gamete the ovule?

Plants have gametes, which contain half the normal number of chromosomes for that plant species. Male gametes are found inside tiny pollen grains on the anthers of flowers. Female gametes are found in the ovules of a flower. Pollination is the process that brings these male and female gametes together.

What is the ploidy of ovary?

(a) Ovary- It is the female part of the plant and the female organ of flowers that has ovules. The ovules develop into seeds upon fertilization. It is diploid (2n) in structure.

What is the ploidy of central cell?

Central cell is diploid in nature.

*Ploidy is the number of sets of chromosomes in a biological cell. Haploid number is the number of chromosomes in a gamete. Diploid number is made up of two complete haploid sets of homologous chromosomes.

What is the ploidy of Tetrad?

The ploidy of each cell in a tetrad happens to have a ploidy 'n' as they are produced by the meiotic division. So the answer is: the ploidy of the cell of the tetrad is haploidy.

What is the ploidy level of egg?

For an egg apparatus, a group of three cells is generally found in a seven celled "embryo sac". Hence, its Ploidy level is (2n + 3n).

What is the ploidy of embryo and the tissues in the ovary?

Answer: The ploidy of embryo sac is Haploid.

The number of set of chromosomes is called as Ploidy.

Is the integument a diploid?

The integument is the outer protective envelope of an ovule. It is diploid in a diploid angiosperm. Integuments are present outside the nucellus.

What is the ploidy of epidermis of anther?

pollen mother cell and the important thing PMC itself is diploid. This will undergo meiosis and produce 4 haploid cells with ploidy n (of each). They will be surrounded with callose wall and being together forming a tetrad in premature state. Then the pollen will get nutrition and enzymes from the tapetum.

What is the ploidy of a Microspore?

Microspores are formed from microspore cells (MMC). MMC may be a diploid cell that undergoes meiosis to make four haploid microspores which are arranged during a tetrad. ... This tells us that the ploidy of microspore tetrad cells is haploid.

What is the ploidy of pollen grain?

So both the male and female gametes after meiosis have no ploidy , that is they are haploids. ... So, we can say that the pollen grain is haploid as it is the male gamete which will fertilize with the female gamete. It is equal to the sperm cell, in the humans, which is also a haploid.

What is Pteridophyte gametophyte?

The gametophyte is the haploid stage of the pteridophyte life-cycle. It develops from the spore produced on the sporophyte. This spore germinates and develops into a body called the prothallus.

What is triple fusion?

: the fusion involving two polar nuclei and a sperm nucleus that occurs in double fertilization in a seed plant and results in the formation of the endosperm.

What is haploid and diploid?

Haploid is the quality of a cell or organism having a single set of chromosomes. ... Sexually reproducing organisms are diploid (having two sets of chromosomes, one from each parent). In humans, only their egg and sperm cells are haploid.
