the power to refract. Also called refringence.

What is meant by specific Refractivity?

: the refractivity of a medium divided by its density.

What refractive means?

1 : having power to refract. 2 : relating or due to refraction.

What is Refractivity in chemistry?

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia. Molar refractivity, , is a measure of the total polarizability of a mole of a substance and is dependent on the temperature, the index of refraction, and the pressure.

What does refractoriness mean?

Medical Definition of refractoriness

: the insensitivity to further immediate stimulation that develops in irritable and especially nervous tissue as a result of intense or prolonged stimulation.

What is the meaning of the word REFRACTIVITY?

Is automaticity a word?

Automaticity /ˌɔːtəməˈtɪsɨti/ is the ability to do things without occupying the mind with the low-level details required, allowing it to become an automatic response pattern or habit. It is usually the result of learning, repetition, and practice.

What is meant by fusibility?

noun. the quality of being fusible or convertible from a solid to a liquid state by heat. the degree to which a substance is fusible.

What is specific and molar refractivity?

Specific Refraction. ... Molar refractivity, , is a measure of the total polarizability of a mole of a substance and is dependent on the temperature, the index of refraction, and the pressure.

What is molar refractivity of drug?

The molar refractivity is a constitutive-additive property that is calculated by the Lorenz-Lorentz formula: ... Molar refractivity is related, not only to the volume of the molecules but also to the London dispersive forces that act in the drug-receptor interaction. According to S.

What is the formula of molar refractivity?

The molar refraction of ligand is calculated as – Rlig = Rmix – Rs – w (3) The polarizability constant (α) of ligand is calculated from following relation- Rlig = 4/3 πNoα (4) Where, No is Avogadro's number.

What is refraction kid friendly?

Kids Definition of refraction

: the bending of a ray when it passes at an angle from one medium into another in which its speed is different (as when light passes from air into water)

What is refraction short answer?

refraction, in physics, the change in direction of a wave passing from one medium to another caused by its change in speed. For example, waves travel faster in deep water than in shallow.

What is another word for refraction?

In this page you can discover 12 synonyms, antonyms, idiomatic expressions, and related words for refract, like: bend, deflect, angle, straight, prism, beam of light, diffract, solar-rays, refraction, polarize and turn.

What is the unit of molar refractivity?

Cubic Meter Per Mole (m³/mol) is the only unit in the category of Molar refraction in our database. It is also known as cubic meters per mole, cubic metre per mole, cubic metres per mole, cubic meter/mole, cubic metre/mole. This unit is commonly used in the SI unit system.

What is refraction based on?

When electromagnetic radiation, in the form of visible light, travels from one substance or medium into another, the light waves may undergo a phenomenon known as refraction, which is manifested by a bending or change in direction of the light.

What is Optical exaltation?

[′äp·tə·kəl ‚ek·səl′tā·shən] (physical chemistry) Optical anomaly in which the observed molar refraction exceeds the calculated one; most cases of optical anomaly are in this category.

What is a good logP for a drug?

A drug targeting the central nervous system (CNS) should ideally have a logP value around 2;2 for oral and intestinal absorption the idea value is 1.35–1.8, while a drug intended for sub-lingual absorption should have a logP value >5. Not only does logP help predict the likely transport of a compound around the body.

What is Veber's rule?

Veber's Rule further questions a 500 molecular weight cutoff. The polar surface area and the number of rotatable bonds has been found to better discriminate between compounds that are orally active and those that are not for a large data set of compounds in the rat.

What is QSAR in medicinal chemistry?

Quantitative structure-activity relationships (QSAR) have been applied for decades in the development of relationships between physicochemical properties of chemical substances and their biological activities to obtain a reliable statistical model for prediction of the activities of new chemical entities.

What is the working principle of Abbe refractometer?

The measuring principle of an Abbe refractometer is based on the principle of total reflection. Abbe refractometers are used for measuring liquids. The reference media glasses (prisms) can be selected with high refractive indices. The light from a radiation source is reflected by a mirror and hits a double prism.

What is Refractometric method?

Refractive Index Measurement or Refractometry is the method of measuring substances refractive index and assess their composition or purity. Refractometry is a technique that measures how light is refracted when it passes through a given substance.

Why does the refractive index have no units?

The refractive index has no units because the units cancel out when calculating the value. The refractive index is calculated by dividing the speed of light in a vacuum by the speed of light in the new medium.

What is fusibility of a metal?

The fusibility of a material is the ease at which the material can be fused together or to the temperature or amount of heat required to melt a material. ... Materials that only melt at very high temperatures are called refractory materials.

How do you test for fusibility?

A test of fusibility usually consists of either a heat test, where a material is heated to its melting point, or an ash fusibility test, where the geometrical changes of a coal sample are measured to better analyse the effect of burning.

Why is solder called a fusible alloy?

These alloys are frequently called "fusible" alloys because they are easily melted at a relatively low temperature compared to most solder alloys. These alloys are made from two or more of the following elements: Bismuth, Tin, Lead, Cadmium, and Indium.
