What is the meaning of decagon in English?

: a plane polygon of 10 angles and 10 sides.

What is decagon math?

A decagon is a closed shape with ten sides and ten angles. Your geometry teacher would also tell you that a decagon is a polygon. ... Speaking of math class, in geometry you may learn that a "regular decagon" is one with sides that are all equal to each other and with internal angles that all measure 144 degrees.

What does decagon mean in Latin?

decagon (n.)

"plane figure having ten sides and angles," 1630s, from Modern Latin decagonum, from Greek dekagonon, from deka "ten" (from PIE root *dekm- "ten") + gōnia "corner, angle" (from PIE root *genu- (1) "knee; angle").

What is a nonagon shape?

A nine sided shape is a polygon called a nonagon. It has nine straight sides that meet at nine corners. The word nonagon comes from the Latin word "nona", meaning nine, and "gon", meaning sides. So it literally means "nine sided shape".

What is the meaning of the word DECAGON?

How much sides does a Nonagon have?

In geometry, a nonagon (/ˈnɒnəɡɒn/) or enneagon (/ˈɛniəɡɒn/) is a nine-sided polygon or 9-gon. The name nonagon is a prefix hybrid formation, from Latin (nonus, "ninth" + gonon), used equivalently, attested already in the 16th century in French nonogone and in English from the 17th century.

What is a decagon for kids?

A decagon is a shape with 10 sides and 10 corners.

How do Decagons look?

A decagon is a 10-sided polygon. It also has ten vertices - which is where the sides meet - and angles. A regular decagon has congruent sides and angles. ... An irregular decagon has sides and angles that are not all congruent.

Is Decagon a real word?

Decagon, dek′a-gon, n. a plane figure of ten angles and sides.

What is an 11gon?

So, the sum of the interior angles of an 11-gon is 1620 degrees. Regular 11-gons: The properties of regular 11-gons: All sides are the same length (congruent) and all interior angles are the same size (congruent). To find the measure of the angles, we know that the sum of all the angles is 1620 degrees (from above)...

What is the decagon shape?

In geometry, a decagon (from the Greek δέκα déka and γωνία gonía, "ten angles") is a ten-sided polygon or 10-gon. The total sum of the interior angles of a simple decagon is 1440°. A self-intersecting regular decagon is known as a decagram.

What's the meaning of Dodecagon?

: a polygon of 12 angles and 12 sides.

Is Nonagon a polygon?

A nonagon is a polygon made up of 9 sides and 9 angles.

What does a heptagon look like?

The heptagon shape is a plane or two-dimensional shape comprised of seven straight sides, seven interior angles, and seven vertices. A heptagon shape can be regular, irregular, concave, or convex. ... All heptagons can be divided into five triangles. All heptagons have 14 diagonals (line segments connecting vertices)

How much sides does a heptagon have?

In geometry, a heptagon or septagon is a seven-sided polygon or 7-gon.

How many sides has a heptagon?

A heptagon is a seven-sided polygon. It is also known as a septagon. The word heptagon comes from two words: 'hepta', meaning seven and 'gon' meaning sides.

How many sides has a octagon?

In geometry, an octagon (from the Greek ὀκτάγωνον oktágōnon, "eight angles") is an eight-sided polygon or 8-gon. A regular octagon has Schläfli symbol {8} and can also be constructed as a quasiregular truncated square, t{4}, which alternates two types of edges. A truncated octagon, t{8} is a hexadecagon, {16}.

How many sides does a Dodecagon have?

A dodecagon is a 12-sided polygon. Several special types of dodecagons are illustrated above. In particular, a dodecagon with vertices equally spaced around a circle and with all sides the same length is a regular polygon known as a regular dodecagon.
