How are salamanders measured?

The most common method used to measure salamanders is snout–vent length (SVL), a method that requires handling individuals. This measurement is taken ventrally from the snout tip to the posterior opening of the cloaca (Bingham, Papenfuss, Lindstrand, & Wake, 2018).
