kar·y·o·lymph The colorless, liquid component of the cell nucleus.

What does Karyolymph mean?

/ (ˈkærɪəʊˌlɪmf) / noun. the liquid portion of the nucleus of a cell.

What is the other name of Karyolymph?

Karyolymph. The presumably fluid substance or gel of the nucleus in which stainable elements were believed to be suspended; much that was formerly considered to be karyolymph is now known to be euchromatin. Synonym: nuclear hyaloplasm, nuclear sap, nucleochylema, nucleochyme.

What is a Plasmosome?

noun Cell Biology. a true nucleolus, as distinguished from a karyosome.

What is the meaning of Karyolysis?

Medical Definition of karyolysis

: dissolution of the cell nucleus with loss of its affinity for basic stains sometimes occurring normally but usually in necrosis — compare karyorrhexis.

How to Pronounce Karyolymph?

What is Karyolysis and Pyknosis?

Pyknosis is the process of nuclear shrinkage. It is an irreversible condition of chromatin in the nucleus of a cell wall undergoing necrosis or apoptosis. ... Karyolysis is a complete dissolution of the chromatin of a dying cell due to enzymatic degradation by endonucleases.

What is Liquefactive?

Liquefactive necrosis (or colliquative necrosis) is a type of necrosis which results in a transformation of the tissue into a liquid viscous mass. Often it is associated with focal bacterial or fungal infections, and can also manifest as one of the symptoms of an internal chemical burn.

What is a Parabasal body?

Medical Definition of parabasal body

: a cytoplasmic body closely associated with the kinetoplast of certain flagellates.

What is the function of Karyosome?

The karyosome or karyosphere is particularly known for its role in oogenesis. It seems to form at the diplotene stage, or in the first meiotic prophase. It is formed when all chromatin material form together to make a mass before the beginning of the first meiotic division.

What is in the nucleolus?

The nucleolus is the site of transcription and processing of rRNA and of assembly of preribosomal subunits. Thus it consists of ribosomal DNA, RNA, and ribosomal proteins, including RNA polymerases, imported from the cytosol.

What is Karyolymph biology?

1. karyolymph - a clear liquid in the cell nucleus in which the nucleolus and chromatin and other structures are dispersed.

Which of the following terms can alternatively be used to describe Karyolymph?

Nucleoplasm is the part of the protoplasm enclosed within the nuclear membrane. It is also referred to as karyoplasm or karyolymph.

What is the main function of the nucleolus?

The nucleolus is the most conspicuous domain in the eukaryotic cell nucleus, whose main function is ribosomal RNA (rRNA) synthesis and ribosome biogenesis.

Where is nucleolus found?

The nucleolus is a region found within the cell nucleus that is concerned with producing and assembling the cell's ribosomes. Following assembly, ribosomes are transported to the cell cytoplasm where they serve as the sites for protein synthesis.

What is Euchromatic nucleus?

Euchromatin is a lightly packed form of chromatin (DNA, RNA, and protein) that is enriched in genes, and is often (but not always) under active transcription. Euchromatin comprises the most active portion of the genome within the cell nucleus.

How many nucleolus are in a human cell?

Because there are 10 NORs located on the acrocentric chromosomes in humans, a maximum of 10 nucleoli in human cells is possible. However, most human cells have far fewer active nucleoli, and many questions remain as to the mechanisms controlling nucleolar number.

What is Encystment in protozoa?

Encystment can be defined as the process by which many organisms adopt the dormant and highly resistant stage of cyst, preceding the release of a reproductive stage.

What does vesicular chromatin mean?

Pathologists often use the microscopic look of the chromatin to help them understand a cell's behavior. For example, 'clumpy', 'coarse', or 'vesicular' are words that are often used to describe chromatin in abnormal or even cancerous cells.

What is parabasal cells on Pap smear?

Parabasal cells are the smallest epithelial cells seen on a typical vaginal smear. They are round or nearly round and have a high nuclear to cytoplasmic ratio. Parabasal cells are prevalent on smears taken during diestrus and anestrus, and not uncommon during early proestrus.

What does predominantly parabasal cells mean?

An abnormal but not malignant cell seen in some cytologic specimens obtained during Papanicolaou tests (Pap tests). It is found in women with vaginal atrophy, in some postpartum women, some women suffering from anorexia or starvation, and some who have used progesterone for contraception.

What is coagulative necrosis?

Coagulative necrosis is a type of accidental cell death typically caused by ischemia or infarction. In coagulative necrosis, the architectures of dead tissue are preserved for at least a couple of days.

What causes Necroptosis?

Necroptosis is a programmed form of necrosis, or inflammatory cell death. Conventionally, necrosis is associated with unprogrammed cell death resulting from cellular damage or infiltration by pathogens, in contrast to orderly, programmed cell death via apoptosis.

What is Caseation necrosis?

Caseous necrosis or caseous degeneration (/ˈkeɪsiəs/) is a unique form of cell death in which the tissue maintains a cheese-like appearance. It is also a distinctive form of coagulative necrosis. The dead tissue appears as a soft and white proteinaceous dead cell mass.

What does pyknosis look like?

Shapes vary from round or oval to polygonal or spindle shaped. Cytoplasmic staining usually is dark or light eosinophilic, rarely cyanophilic. Nuclei are small and often hyperchromatic owing to pyknosis.
