The heater core will not cause the A/C to not blow cold. If your A/C is working properly with the correct amount of refrigerant, then you may have a temperature blend door not working and staying on heat mode.

Does heater core have anything to do with AC?

the heater core is actually part of the cooling system. as coolant circulates through the engine, some of that hot coolant passes through the heater core in the dashboard.

Will bypassing heater core affect AC?

You basically take the two hoses off the heater core, you stick them together and you're done. That way, the coolant will continue to circulate, even though it no longer goes through the heater core. And bypassing the heater core should have no effect at all on the performance of the engine, Charles.

A car heating system blowing cold air can be due to a faulty thermostat, low coolant fluid level, malfunctioning heater core, a leaking cooling system, or problems with heating controls and blend door.

Is the AC evaporator and heater core the same?

The air-conditioning evaporator is a small radiator inside the dashboard that provides cold air for the air-conditioning system. ... Unlike a ruptured heater core, which can leak engine coolant into the foot wells, a leak in the evaporator releases only refrigerant vapor.

Will a radiator flush unclog heater core?

The heater core is similar to a radiator and is a part of the vehicle's coolant system. ... Flushing the heater core can remove these clogs, but if it fails to work, you may need to have your heater core replaced.

Does heater control valve affect AC?

The heater control valve allows the flow of coolant through the heater core to be controlled and switched on and off without affecting the operation of the rest of the cooling system.

What causes a heater core to go bad?

How does a heater core go bad? There are multiple reasons a car's heater core could not be working properly. One reason could be due to clogging, as the coolant could become contaminated if it's not regularly flushed out. Another reason for a bad heater core could be because of a leak somewhere in the system.

VW cars are very unreliable as they age but a heater core should last longer than a few years. On most older cars from years ago, the heater core would last 10 years or longer.

Why is my car AC not blowing cold air?

The most common causes of broken air conditioning are leaks or compressor issues. If your air is blowing cool but not cold, the problem could be a clogged filter, cooling fan problem, radiator trouble, or it could simply be that you need to recharge your AC.

What do I do if my heater is blowing cold air?

When your furnace blows cold air, try turning the heating unit off and on. If the air feels warm for a moment or two, then switches to cold, it may be that the flame sensor is dirty. • Heater operates erratically, putting out more or less heat without any control changes.
• Coolant leaks.
• Low coolant level.
• Higher-than-normal temperature gauge readings (from loss of coolant)

What can a bad heater control valve cause?

The heater may produce hot air, but only at certain times, such as at idle, and the hot air may come and go. A faulty heater control valve may also cause the temperature gauge to behave erratically, rapidly climbing and falling, which will make it difficult to determine the temperature of the engine.

How do you know if heater control valve is working?
